  Welcome to MC Lab. EI Dept. HUST

      Media and Communication Laboratory is one branch of Wireless Broadband Communication and Multimedia System Research Center,Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Our research fields include rate-distortion theory for wireless channel, multimedia information processing, media content and security, wireless sensor network, vision computing and computer graphics.
      This lab has close cooperation with several international universities, including University of California at Los Angeles, Temple University,U.S. and McGill University, Canada.
      In 2009, MC Lab. got a great progress in research fields. Some papers have been published on top journal including IEEE Trans on PAMI, IEEE Trans on IP, and top conferences, INFOCOM, CVPR. More detail see "Select Publications in MC Lab".

In-depth understanding of mobile communication systems.

Well understood the whole 3G CDMA telecommunication system’s architecture and network layer, data link layer protocols.

Familiar with network-layer theories, algorithms and simulation tools /languages. Eg: Opnet/ProtoC.

Familiar with principle theories and algorithms of digital signal processing and simulation tools. Eg: Matlab

Familiar with mainstream embedded system developing, including Vxworks, Linux, WinCE

Familiar with Device Driver Development on windows platform. Have written a lot of device drivers. Have developed a PPP-Over-Ethernet driver for ADSL in off hours (10,100 lines of C codes).

Good at programming with languages such as C, C++, Matlab, JAVA;

Have written a lot of C/C++ programs With Visual C++ and Borland C++ Builder. Despite my research projects, I am also one of the top software engineers in my department.

Familiar with many platform including Windows, Linux, Vxworks, WinCE, especially familiar with windows kernel.

Familiar with software engineering and software project administration, has my own group in the company.

Also implemented a lot of M-functions algorithms in Matlab for scientific calculation and system simulation.

Familiar with CISCO router and switch, have experience in network planning.

Main research member of the project “Network Flux Research on 3G wireless communication system”, supported by Hanwang High Technology Inc. Wuhan. , In charge of the flux analysis & model construction with Opnet Simulation.

The project aims at find out possible bottlenecks in the High-Data-Rate Wireless Mobile IP-Communication System. A city-area 3G wireless network model was build for the project with Opnet, which include 30 base stations and hundreds of mobile terminals.

March. 2002 - July. 2002
Main research member of the project “Designing and Implementation of Mobile IP (RFC2002) on multi-mode mobile terminal”, supported by Hanwang High Technology Inc., Wuhan, and WW Technology Inc. Shanghai. In charge of system architecture designing flow simulation with Opnet Simulate implementation on windows platform.

The project provides heterogeneous mobility and seamlessly homogeneous mobility for roaming multi-mode IP terminals, which has multiple wireless access devices. The project was tested in July 2002,and was totally successful.

Main research member of the project “Mobility’s Control over PPP link in wireless communication”, supported by Hanwang High Technology Inc., Wuhan, in charge of flow designing and simulation with Opnet Simulate.

The project is an add-on for Point-to-Point Protocol, which provides mobility support over PPP link in wireless IP system. The design has been submitted to apply for National patent, and was accepted by SIPO (State Intellectual Property of P.R.C, application-number 02115779.0).
